A significant amount of community organizations do not undertake evaluations of their projects, programs, services, and organization. Evaluations are seen as a burden that are time consuming and detract from service delivery, while providing little to no benefit for organizations; they are rarely requested by funders and don't directly lead to increased funding. However, being aware of where our organization stands is key in ensuring that we understand where we are, how we got here, and where we are going. Without proper evaluations, there is not way of ensuring that we are serving our communities as best we can. Evaluations can focus on an innumerable number of questions, with frequent examples including:
Are we meeting our funding objectives? (Or are we under- or over-delivering?)
How do our projects and programs fit together in achieving our mission/objectives?
Are we having our desired impact?
Are we prioritizing our resources efficiently?
What do our stakeholders need? Etc.
At the heart of our services are expert-based evaluations. Our team is led by Helen Walling, who has a PhD in Applied Human Sciences and over 35-years of leadership in community organization, and Eric Walling, who has a PhD in decision-support, evaluations, and modelling, alongside a varied history in community development, academia, and stakeholder engagement. We help organizations develop their evaluation guidelines, while ourselves leading evaluations, from small-scale project evaluations to large-scale community development and social inclusion plans. Examples of the type of evaluation services we offer include:
Comprehensive organizational audits (non-financial)
Resource allocation, achieved outcomes, attainment of goals, etc.
